Dear Students (and their adoring fans!), I am pleased to announce that our annual Halloween Recital is officially on the calendar! :D
With just under 6 weeks to prepare for this spooky event, I recommend choosing something that you & your teacher feel confident you can rock by showtime - fun & easy is always a respectable plan, but if you'd rather feel a bit of heat and choose something more difficult, I'm sure your teacher can help advise you on a robust practice strategy at your next session :D
We will be having a snack potluck afterward, so your edible contributions are much appreciated! Cookies, cakes, fruit/veggies, cheese, crackers, 70s deviled eggs (big fan!), whatever you wish to share with your fellow performers and guests, it will be thankfully devoured!
Invite as many guests as you like! We have a large church to spread out in :D
Also, it is always GLORIOUS when students bring their carved pumpkins to the show off, they always look so cool on stage as you play!
This event is always such a highlight, RSVP ASAP to save your spot, so if you are a registered student and would like to be a part of the madness, please email us!

It's that time of year where we all work towards a holiday music video that features us making some merry music, in a merry setting, and ideally, feeling as merry as possible while doing so! Our 4th annual :D.
Halloween Music Recital for students of West Point Grey School of Music, along with some special guests. Don’t miss the fun on Sunday, October 29th!

october Workshop for pianists!
Sunday, October 17th, 2021.
Get a chance to bounce your Halloween recital piece off the “ears of your peers” in a safely-spaced in-person setting featuring 5 participants + teacher. This one hour class will allow students to get a taste of what it feels like to play in a live context again, while enjoying each other’s playing and offering each other feedback and encouragement. Lead teacher will facilitate discussion, offering practice strategies and technical advice based on challenges in each student’s repertoire. Essentially, a short group lesson where pianists can experience the thrill of playing for each other, a week before the due date of their Halloween Video. Registration details to come with multiple workshops times to choose from on Sunday, October 17th.

It’s the annual graveyard smash featuring the ghostly figures of our students playing some spell-binding tunes. Video submissions due Sunday, October 24th and premiering via unlisted YouTube link Friday, October 29th.
(Dress code is fore-mauling or business casualty)
West Point gREY sCHOOL OF MUSIC’S HOLIDAY GREETING CARD!
Students send out their best wishes with festive performances of holiday jingles and optionally wrapping their cellos with twinkle lights. Video submissions due the same time as holiday baking drop-off for their teachers, Dec 17th. (I really like gingersnaps)
