Pianist Deborah Grimmett's performances have been heard in major concert halls throughout Canada, and in Europe, such as Auditorium Santa Croce, the Centennial Theatre, and The Chan Centre. She was a finalist and prizewinner in both the Vancouver Academy Provincial Senior Secondary Competition, and the BC Piano Competition.

Ms. Grimmett regularly performs in master classes for acclaimed artists such as John Perry, Andre Laplante, Marc Durand, Philippe Cassard, and Lydia Atrimiw. She is also active as a collaborative musician, having studied with Rena Sharon. As a collaborative pianist, Deborah has played in master classes for Malcom Martineau and James Ehnes.

Having a keen interest in the psychological and physical relationships of playing piano, Ms. Grimmett has done extensive study of the Taubman piano technique in the US, and continues to study the Alexander Technique in Canada. The study of these techniques profoundly influence Deborah's kinesthetic awareness for piano playing, and their effect manifests itself greatly in her playing and her teaching. As a teacher, she studied piano pedagogy at University of British Columbia, and in the past decade she has taught students of varying levels and ages ranging from 5 to 50.

Throughout her career as a pianist, Ms. Grimmett has been the recipient of a number of academic and non-academic awards. In the summer of 2008 Deborah was selected to take part in the Vancouver International Song Institute (VISI) and the Toronto Summer Music Academy and Festival (TSMAF) master class program, both on scholarship. In July 2007, she was accepted to attend the Casalmaggiore International Music Festival in Italy, where she performed in solo and chamber recitals. In July 2010, she will attend the Music Academy in Orford for intensive study in master classes.

Deborah enjoys an active performing schedule, both within the university environment, and in the community. She has been invited as a guest artist at both the Vancouver Art Gallery and Vancouver Public Library Community Concert Series. She also makes regular appearances in benefit concerts for the Cambodia Support Group in Victoria and Vancouver.

Ms. Grimmett completed her Master of Music Degree in piano performance from the University of Toronto where she worked under the the direction of noted pedagogue Marietta Orlov. She holds her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of British Columbia, where she was a student of renowned Canadian pianist Jane Coop, and an ARCT (Piano Performance Diploma) from the Royal Conservatory of Music. Ms. Grimmett was formerly a pupil of Sara Davis Buechner, as well as John Dupuis, the founder of West Point Grey School of Music.
