ANNOUNCEMENTS

As of July 2010, Deborah Grimmett will be the Director of West Point Grey School of Music. Ms. Grimmett holds a Master of Music Degree from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Marietta Orlov, and she received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of British Columbia as a student of Jane Coop. She was formerly a pupil of Sara Davis Buechner and John Dupuis, and also holds an ARCT (Piano Performance) Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. At UBC, she was a student of piano pedagogy, as well as a performance major, and in the past decade she has taught many students of ages ranging from 5 to 50.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Students of John Dupuis:

Christopher Kusuhara has been selected this year’s piano competitor to represent British Columbia at the National Music Festival in Montreal in August! Christopher is a student at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School and he is in his 5th year of piano studies with John Dupuis at West Point Grey School of Music.

Christopher is the Second-Prize Winner of this year's Bjorn & Lori Hareid Senior Secondary Piano Competition held at the Vancouver Academy of Music in January 2010.
The award is a $1,250 scholarship donated by the Loyal Protestant Association.

Kai von Dehn is the First-Place winner and medal recipient for this year's Grade 8 Concert Group at the Clef Society Music Festival.

Congratulations Christopher Kusuhara!

Christopher is a winner of this year's Burnaby Clef Concerto Competition, chosen to perform Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra!

Christopher was also a multiple First-Place winner at this year's Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival and runner-up in the Senior Piano category at the BC Provincial Piano Finals.
